Dakota Blue Richards was born in England and is best-known for her roles as Lyra Belaqua in 'The Golden Compass' Franky Fitzgerald on the third generations of British teenage drama Skins. She also has a long tradition of appearing on stage in various plays, including 'Arcadia' and A Streetcar Named Desire. A London resident, Richards grew up in Sussex. Richards took a couple of theater classes at school however, she took the majority of acting classes during the weekends. Additionally, she opted to skip classes for auditions. The Golden Compass was her first on-screen appearance as an actor. Richards received a lot of praise by critics for her acting although the film was met with an unpopular response. Following that she made her tiny screen debut with the TV film 'Dustbin Baby'.
